A Balance of Pragmatism, Innovation, and Growth
Eric Garner
I’m Eric Garner, a technical program manager, instructional designer, and problem-solver with a passion for turning complex challenges into structured solutions. My career has spanned multiple industries—from nuclear engineering to semiconductor technology to immersive learning—each experience shaping my ability to innovate, adapt, and lead with clarity.
I believe that knowledge is power, and learning should be both structured and engaging. My work is dedicated to building better training systems, enhancing workforce development through XR/VR solutions, and mentoring the next generation of technical professionals.
Professional Journey
I began my career in the U.S. Navy as an Operational Nuclear Mechanic, where I developed discipline, precision, and problem-solving skills that have guided my professional journey. Transitioning into semiconductor manufacturing, I took on roles at Applied Materials and Solar World, refining my expertise in technical troubleshooting and project management.
At ASM America, I stepped into education technology as a Lead Technical Trainer, modernizing training materials and pioneering web-based learning solutions to enhance workforce development. This foundation led me to Transfr, where I spearheaded the creation of VR-based training simulations, setting new standards for immersive workforce education.
Currently, I am the Product Manager at NextWave Safety Solutions and the Founding Senior Technical Program Manager at NXR, a newly established division focused on expanding the VR training department into its own identity. My role centers on leading immersive learning innovations, developing scalable training solutions, and shaping the future of XR-based workforce education.
From nuclear systems to VR learning, my career has been about leveraging technology, optimizing training methodologies, and driving innovation that empowers industries and individuals alike.
What Motivates Me
I am driven by the intersection of logic and creativity. Whether I am designing an immersive training program, troubleshooting a technical issue, or mentoring a team, I thrive on finding structured yet flexible solutions that create impact. My motivation comes from seeing knowledge transform into real-world improvement, whether in individuals, teams, or industries.
